It was a joyful and memorable day of thanksgiving on Monday, 31 August 2026, as Sr. Wilfred Adongo Oguya, a parishioner and daughter of St. Mary’s Chiga Parish, celebrated her Silver Jubilee of Religious Profession together with other sisters.
The celebration was held at the Sisters’ Mother House in Asumbi, within the Diocese of Homa Bay, bringing together religious sisters, clergy, family members, friends and well-wishers who came to celebrate and give thanks to God for the gift of consecrated life.
The Holy Mass was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Maurice Makumba Muhatia, who was the main celebrant, and was assisted by His Lordship Michael Odiwa, the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of Homa Bay.
The Silver Jubilee marked 25 years of Sr. Wilfred’s consecrated life and service to God and the Church. It was a significant milestone, offering an opportunity to thank God for His faithfulness throughout her vocational journey and to celebrate the many years she has dedicated to serving His people.
As a daughter of St. Mary’s Chiga Parish, Sr. Wilfred was not alone on this special occasion. Members of the parish travelled to Asumbi to join her in celebration, expressing their love, appreciation and support for their daughter. Their presence was a beautiful sign of the strong bond between Sr. Wilfred and her parish community.
The occasion was filled with joy, thanksgiving, prayer and fellowship. The gathering provided an opportunity for the sisters, clergy, family and friends to celebrate together and give thanks for the gift of religious vocation.
For St. Mary’s Chiga Parish, the celebration was a moment of great pride and joy as the parish celebrated one of its own. Sr. Wilfred’s journey of consecrated life remains a testimony of faith, commitment and service to God and the Church.
As she continues with her vocation, we pray that God may continue to bless and strengthen her, grant her good health and renewed grace, and guide her in the years ahead.
